Privacy policy

Who we are

RuleVerdict is a product developed and offered by us ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains what we collect through the marketing site, your account, and the calculation API, and what you can expect us to do with it.

What we collect

Creating an account collects your name, email address, and organization name. If you add teammates, we collect their email addresses too, for the invitations you send.

Staff time-entry data you submit to the calculation API (/v1/evaluate/) is not stored as identifiable personal data by the calculation engine itself — each computed record is keyed by an opaque, caller-supplied reference you control (e.g. an employee ID from your own system), never a name or other identifying detail we require. Rule configuration (thresholds, premiums, rounding rules) and the computed results themselves are retained so you can look up what was computed and why.

How we use it

To provide the service you signed up for (authentication, the rule editor, the calculation API), to bill you for your plan, and to contact you about your account or support requests. We don't sell any of it.

Cookies & tracking

This marketing site sets no tracking or advertising cookies and loads no third-party analytics scripts. Signing in to the RuleVerdict dashboard doesn't use a session cookie either — the dashboard authenticates with a short-lived token pair stored in your browser's local storage, not a cookie, and it expires automatically (the underlying access token lasts 15 minutes; the refresh token, 7 days). The only cookie this site sets is a standard CSRF-protection cookie when you submit the public contact form.

Retention

Computed evaluation records are retained for as long as your account is active, so you can always look up what was computed and why. If you'd like them purged on a shorter cycle — or deleted entirely when you close your account — email support@ruleverdict.com and we'll configure and run that for you; we aim to complete deletion requests within 30 days.

Third parties

We use Zoho for transactional email (account, invitation, and support correspondence) and a third-party payment provider for card payments on paid plans. That provider is our merchant of record: it takes the payment, deals with sales tax and VAT, and sends your receipt, so it receives your name, email address, billing country and card details to do that; we never see or store your full card number. Its own terms and privacy policy apply to the payment. We don't use any third-party analytics or advertising vendors. Infrastructure is operated by us; where a deployment uses object storage for file assets, it's kept private and not publicly accessible.

Your rights & contact

Wherever you're located, you generally have the right to access, correct, export, or request deletion of the personal data we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, email support@ruleverdict.com and we'll respond within a reasonable time.

Terms of service

Acceptance

By creating an account or calling the API, you agree to these terms with us, the company that develops and operates RuleVerdict.

The service

RuleVerdict provides a rule-authoring dashboard and a calculation API (/v1/evaluate/) for computing overtime outcomes from rules you configure. You're responsible for the accuracy of the rules you configure and the data you submit — RuleVerdict computes what your rules say, it doesn't independently verify them against any specific jurisdiction's law.

Your account

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials and API keys confidential, and for all activity under your account. Tell us right away if you believe a key or credential has been compromised so it can be revoked.

Acceptable use

Don't attempt to bypass your plan's rate limits, probe the service for vulnerabilities without authorization, or use it to process data you don't have the right to process.

Availability

The service is provided on an "as-is" basis. We don't offer a formal uptime SLA at this stage; Enterprise customers who need a contractual uptime commitment can arrange one with us directly.

Fees

Fees are set by the plan you select.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of RuleVerdict, including decisions made using computed results from rules you configured. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the fees you paid us for the service in the three months before the claim arose.

Termination

You can cancel at any time from your dashboard; a cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for (see the refund and cancellation policy below). We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, and will otherwise give at least 30 days' notice before ending the service for an account in good standing.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws applicable to where we operate, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, and any dispute will be resolved in the courts with jurisdiction over us.

Changes to these terms

We'll post updates here and update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we'll also email the account holder on file.

Refund and cancellation policy

This explains how to cancel a paid plan and how to ask for a refund.

Cancelling

You can cancel at any time. In your dashboard, open your organization's Billing tab and switch to the free Starter plan, or email support@ruleverdict.com and we'll do it for you.

Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. Until then you keep everything in your paid plan; after it you are moved to the free Starter plan. We don't charge you for any later period. If we have already sent your next renewal invoice, you don't need to pay it, and it is cancelled when your plan ends.

The free Starter plan doesn't need a payment card, so there is nothing to cancel or refund until you choose a paid plan.

Refunds

A paid month is provided in full from the day it starts, so we don't normally refund a month that has already begun. We do refund a payment in full if you were charged by mistake or twice, or if you ask within 14 days of the payment and haven't used the service for that period. Any other request is reviewed case by case.

To ask for a refund, email support@ruleverdict.com from your account's email address, with the invoice number (or the date and amount of the payment). We aim to reply within 3 business days. Approved refunds go back to the original payment method and can take a few business days to appear, depending on your bank.

If something looks wrong with a charge, please contact us first rather than disputing it with your bank, and we'll sort it out quickly.
